Holderheks goes forth!

Many weeks has passed. The brothers has venture back and fort to Gealstown, to buy an mechanical miner, since the earth elementals have been running amok and the contact to the elemental plane of earth seems to be cut off.

During their travell, they've found an cavein and a drow outpost with a lot of undeads, and the drow leader was in a golden prison sphere. So the brothers went another way to Gaelstown, trough the Forbidden fungus forest with some fungi/plant monsters and something big that flew around (they never saw it). But they saw and defeated an Ettin who hade some magical Bracers of the brawler.

After the Ettin encounter they travelled some more days in the forest until they entered the dark caves again. They came to an huge underground lake, almost a sea. They started to travell by foot in the shallows and soon encountered water elementals who stayed close to the strangly formed "lagoons".
They heard some strange noices when they where at a small island and was attacked by the biggest slug they ever seen and the fight wasnt going as good as they hoped when they heard something on the water.  It was something big, thats closing the distance to them and some light was shining. It turned out to be a small ship that was patroling the coast for evil humanoids and big slugs.

The slug was dealt with in a fast way, Captain Kork was an experienced slugkiller and he took the brothers aboard the ship.
The brothers could finally get some rest while Kork took them back to Drippel and dropped them off so they could find an inn, with a warm bath and some fungus soup.

End of patrol

After the brothers cleared out the Kobold lair, they returned to their patroling and ended up at the patrol camp and took their turns at guard.

When Brottors watch was over, he woke Oskar who bas bathing in sweat and had fever. He felt naseous and dizzy. So the brothers decided to camp there and treat his illnes. The soon figured out that it must have been one of those filthy Dire rats from the days before.

The day passed slowly, the only thing that they heard was some strange noises from the cave they where supposed to enter this day, but they let it pass (some guards….). The day turned to evening and Brottor and Rurik took turns in guarding and nursed over Oskar.

When the next day came, Oskar felt better, the fever was gone, but he wsa still ill, so they started to patrol at a slow pace again.
They entered an area after some time that had been harvested, and they started to search around for some clues. Rurik found a bag of fungus tobaco and flint and steel. Must have been the sounds from the harvesters from Gnestown they heard the day before.

Brottor noticed some movement in the ground, some 20" away and alerted his brothers, who saw nothing. He drew hos hammer and moved forward, when the ground came to life and attacked him with an tentacle.

The creature climbed up from its hiding place, two more tentacles showed, a huge mouth with a lot o teeths and three thick legs supported the creature.

The Party rejoice!
The kobold lair

After the brothers catch their breath, they decided to see whats in the hole, but not after they had informed some fellow dwarves about the possible kobold Lair, if they should die.

Said and done, they dragged out the dead kobolds and the weasle to the path that runs trough the fungus cave. They put the corpses so they pointed towards where the tunnel is and went back pleased with their work.

Rurik took the lead and climbed up to the hole and fastened a rope for his not-so-agile brothers and went in, crawling.
After a while he heard some kobold chatters and he tried to peak around a corner when he triggered another trap, tindertwing and lampoil. The Tindertwig lightened the oil and a big flame came up, but Rurik had moved back and avoided to catch fire.

Oskar saw the flames and sent a quick prayer to Moradin to douse the fire with conjured water. The prayer was heard and the fired died almost as fast as it started, but the damage was done, the kobolds saw the trap go off and yelled for help from their tribe.

Rurik managed to dodge a crossbowbolt and got out from the cave, only to meet a shortspear in the shoulder before he tumbled out on the big leadge that where standning 15" above the cavern floor and spotted a whole clan of kobolds closing in, hideing behind stalgmites and big mushrooms.

Rurik tumbled behind the crossbow using kobold while he reloded his weapon and killed him from behind.

Brottor came out of the tunnel and met the shortspear as well, but it only made a scratch and and decided that he would bullrush the spearweilder from the ledge, said and done, but the kobold didnt die, so he jumped down on the vile creature to en its misserable life.
Oskar came out right after and saw a huge stalagmite that had fallen on the ledge and tried to use it as a ramp down, he failed on the first step and fell down, just around the corner from where his brother Brottor stood. But he never saw the hideing kobold rogue who sat under the fallen stalagmite and found Oskars unprotected kidney with a dagger. The rogue tried to slip away and took out an dart while he moved and Oskar took the opportunity to attack him and crushed the kobolds skull with a clean swing with his weapon.

More kobolds showed themselves, and some crossbow bolts came from differnt directions. The brothers took aim on the ones they could see. Rurik ran around on the rubble floor like it was a dancefloor, Oskar wasnt far behind, but their brother Brottor the holy warrior must have done something to missplease Moradin, since he could barley stand on his legs due to the uneven floor and fell down on his arse more then once.

After a couple of rounds, magic missiles started to rain down on the brothers, two at the time., but they didnt see where they came from. More and more kobolds died from their weapons, until they saw the spellcasting kobold came into view, and he had a longsword weilding bodyguard at his side, while he attacked the brothers from a safe distance. Hee even noticed Brottors unfavorabled situation and summoned a swarm of centipedes on the spot where he fell before he continued to hail MM´s on the other two brothers.

Rurik saw two crossbowshooting kobolds behind some large mushrooms and ran over to deal with the threat from them, but they moved och reloaded with a tactic unheard of among kobolds and Rurik could only attack with one of his two weapons since he had to move so much (and probably keep the balance with the other hand).

After killing the "fodders" the time came for the boss and his bodyguard(s),  with some caution and hiding by mushrooms and stalagmitets the brothers spotted a hidden kobold with a blade made for kidneys whom they took out first while the swordweilding kobold had some swings at the brothers and wasnt taken down as easily as the rogue or fodder kobolds, he took the beating and gave back some.
The spellcaster moved in and cast a spell with all the patterns of a rainbow, but the brothers just shrugged it off and went in on the spellcaster.

After the battle, the brothers where badly wounded, but it wasnt anything their holy brother couldnt cure (with the magic wand that where loaned to them on their duty).

The night ended after looting the kobolds, their small lair in a stalagmite and slowly walking back to the ledge and the fuguscave to return to their partol duty.

The Party rejoice!

After adding the skills, feats and whatnot the party started out at the guard house for a weeks patrol in the fungus caves. The route takes about a week to do, then they will be released from duty for 4 days.

It takes one day to travel down the mainroad to the camp where they release another patrol from their duty to guard the fungus fields. It was Ragnar and his team of men and their cave-lizard pet. Ragnar told the brothers it was a easy patrol, almost boring due to the lack of action.

On the first day out the meet a pack of dire rats that where munching on some fungus crops, the rest of the day went uneventful so they entered the camp och settled down for the rest.
The next morning they set out and at a point Brottor noticed a weak lingering aura of evil behind a stalagmite. He went to investigate what it was but didnt see anything special and the aura disapeared. Rurik noticed at once a small cave in the wall, only 2,5" high. Brottor leaned down to see what was inside and where surprised by an ferocius feral Weasle that went for his throat and got a hold.

After som struggle, Brottor got hold on the Weasle and wrestle it of his throat when the brothers heard a distinct "yip yip" from the weasles master inside the cave and then a crossbowbolt passed the brothers. With the weasle gone they dived for cover and Brottor took a potion of healing liquid and dropped his backpack on the ground (his brothers dropped theirs as well).

Brottor started to crawl with the shield as a cover in front of him. The cave narrowed a bit in the middle and brottor found a tanglefootbad-trap, the hard way.
Cowerd in goo, the kobold started to fire his crossbow again, Rurik crawled to Brottor in the cover of the narrowing part and started to cut his brother loose. Just when Brottor got free, the weasle attacked again, only to meet a warhammer that ended its life.

Rurik and Brottor ended the two kobold guards lives fast and Oskar came crawling the the battle was done.

After finding some goldnuggets, they spotted a hole about 15' up in the far corner.

(The game ended for the night)
